Following up on yesterday’s live post from the Scala Connected Signage Event, I’ve decided to write up a few notes this morning for those who couldn’t make it out.
The day kicked off with a short presentation by Tom Nix, VP Americas for Scala where he offered insightful information about Scala:
- Most widely used DS platform (100+ countries).
- Over 200,000 players sold worldwide powering over 500,000 screens.
- More 1000 node networks than anyone else.
- New solution sales training offering on the way…
The second half of Tom’s talk was focused on how their partners can “Win with Scala”. I loved this approach & its obvious that the integrators here do also.
Tom was followed up by Adrian Weidmann, co-author of Lighting up the Aisles. He spoke about roi and seemed particulalry anti-“return on experience.” I had my disagreements but had to keep in mind that we work different verticals. He is focused on retail and grocery stores. In fact, he had the most sophisticated roi calculator that I have ever seen in this business. It seemed like it could be quite helpful to many of those selling into large distributed retail networks.
Lastly was a real impressive case study from the Miele Inspirience Centre in the Netherlands. This is a neat video which shows some innovative retail digital solutions:
