New Biz Idea – Social Speed Reading Tool

Get speedy, click to check out the app.

There is so much content on the web. And I want to read it faster and be distracted less. That’s why I have fallen in love with Spreeder.

Spreeder is a web app that allows you to control various components of the speed reading process. It was introduced to me by a good friend, Craig Hyde at Rigor and I’ve been using it at least weekly since he brought it to my attention.

Here is the issue i have with it: This app is not built for the social web!…and there is so much more you can do with it!

I think that there is a neat opportunity to build the same speed reading application, but better. For example, how neat would this be as a button plug-in on articles and blog posts so you can speed right through the content? How about adding it to RSS aggregators like (Reeder & Google Reader)? What about making it able to import entire RSS feeds or PDF’s? Adding FB and Twitter media buttons from the site so that it gets shared on the social web.

The list goes on and on for what can be done with this app. So webdevs out there, how hard would it be to recreate this app but add in all these awesome features?

  1. Thanks for turning me on to this, Kyle.  Even though there is more potential there, it does allow me to practice speed reading.  It is amazing how much more “tuned in” you have to be.  I realize that a lot of my reading speed problems are that I start thinking about other things.  You can’t do that with this.

    1. Yeah I love it. It helps me fly through content and stay focused. I use it heavily on my ipad as well which allows me to be productive while chilling out on my patio in the evening. Thanks for the feedback Colin! It’s been too long; hope all is well with you, Jennifer, and the golden doodle!

  2. Hey kyle,

I’m not sure if this is exactly the most appropriate place to send a blog, but I spoke to you at a wedding in MA about a start up, couldn’t find your email on the site. If you could please get back to me when you can navyj26.com.

    Thank you

    Jason
