I’ll never forget the first time that I laid eyes on a NanoLumens display. It was fall ’09. I remember I couldn’t stop talking about the product for weeks and months afterward. Actually, I never stopped talking about it because I ended up joining the team just months later. At that time, the company had yet to make our first sale and was hovering around single digit headcount, but we had hold of something special.
Since then, we’ve grown significantly. And we’ve built some of the most innovative products in the world. We’ve raised capital and flexed the rules of physics for digital displays. We’ve built a team, almost tripled in size. Some of the biggest brands in business have purchased our products to solve their problems and we’ve created a whole new market for digital displays. Working with NanoLumens- I’ve been able to grow, learn, and perform accomplishments that I could not have done anywhere else. And the company will always be a part of me.
While I have so many awesome stories from my time here, my happiest takeaway is having worked with and built lifelong relationships with the awesome team at NanoLumens. They are an amazing group of people. With new product expansions, a deep pipeline, and a portfolio of recently closed big business, the company is growing fast and in an awesome place to be one of the great technology success stories.
The big change for me is that I’m leaving NanoLumens to start a new business.
While I cannot envision ever leaving to join an existing company, when the opportunity came to start one, I had to jump on it. Fortunately the team here has been understanding and very supportive in my move. See mentioned above re: “amazing group of people”.
For a quick intro, here are a few things about the new company:
- It’s B2B. That’s what I’ve always done and that’s what I believe I do best
- It’s software, meaning no physical development or inventory
- I have a fantastic business partner with a solid track record and an ability to fill in the many areas where I am inexperienced
- It’s not specific to digital signage
- It’s funded
I’m super excited about the space we’ve chosen to start the new business. I feel strongly that there is a lot of opportunity to add value to customers through our planned product offering.
I’m looking forward to taking on new challenges and learning new skills with the move. Most of all, I’m grateful to be in a position to provide value to my network and connections. I’m hopeful for and counting on your support as I embark on this new journey.
